Never Let the Light Within Get Extinguished

Several months have passed since the unnecessary evil actions of mankind that took place on the streets of France, hotel in Mali, and the skies of Egypt.

The day will come when we realize that the best and only action for man to take is the one that leads man away from creating suffering for others, and instead creating non-violence (Ahimsa).

Since these events last year, we have had even countless more negative actions of mankind that have killed others for no reason, created suffering for no reason, and increased violence in this world for no reason. Why does it seem like there is more evil out there in the world than good?

Or is it my imagination that there is really more good out there but it just being clouded by the all these negative events? What is happening is that we are being over-marketed by the news media, those around us, and our smartphones continuously broadcasting news of evil. There is no stopping it.

Doesn’t it seem like there is a barrage of sad news these days?

The saying that “no news, is good news” is so true. After all, who really cares about good news? I mean, if being good is something we are continuously trying to achieve, isn’t the focus on overcoming the hurdles to get us to that good what is really more important?

Who cares about the end-state of something good? This means that things are on cruise control – all good, comfortable and steady. However, the end-state of evil stands out more than good. The outcome is a feeling that is fearful, uncomfortable, jittery, on the edge, and unpredictable.

This is why focusing on the good is so inconsequential to many of us – it is more natural to connect to that which is bad – bad things, bad news, bad people. We can’t relate to that which is good because that is the way life is supposed to be so we just take it for granted. But when things are not the way life is, we draw focus to it more and hence attract and bring it in more crappy things toward us.

The problem we face is that we live in a world where getting away from that which is evil is so difficult. We let certain events get to us which has a direct impact in our ability to effectively reason, control negative thoughts, and live freely. In other words, we let the outside world dictate our inside world – rather than let our inside world direct the outside world. Everything that is happening to us is based on things that we see, hear, touch, taste, and smell on the outside. It’s outside things that we bring into our personal system.

Terrorism, both domestic and global,  is now one of those things that we have no power over. It will happen anywhere, at anytime. It can enter our minds and infiltrate our personal operating systems anywhere, anytime.

Now, if we have the power to create an impenetrable system within us whereby no bad news or the intent to harm another can enter our domain, just think about the amount of power we can have.

Do you actually think this is possible?

Can we kill darkness and only bring in the light?

Moreover, can we eternally keep our light within from ever becoming extinguished?

The answer is so much easier and completely opposite to even what these questions are asking. The short answer is that to bring in more light we have to enter into darkness. Essentially, close our eyes to all of the negativity in the outside world by taking direct action with the intent to create more good and non-violence through our actions toward the outside world.

I am not saying to be in denial of evil actions of others. That’s ignorance. Wars, genocide, murder, shooting, etc. will be inevitable based on the ego-driven nature of mankind and the inability to control emotions and defeat suffering inside.

What I am saying is to defeat evil actions we have to create a system within us of good. The art to this kind of thinking is to create a buffer between your inside world and that which is on the outside.

You have to be smart about what is acceptable. Start with realizing that the only actions you should be performing are ones which are non-violent, truthful, righteous, giving, respectful, open, honest, unconditional, and pure. This also means not stealing, adding to corruption of broken systems, bribing others, breaking the law, and thinking a gun or knife is a solution to global issues.

As you start to perform these actions, you will start to attract and create a world within you that is more pure. To defeat darkness and create light, you have to enter darkness and become light. This is one way towards a more peaceful you.
