Finding Fullness in Negative and Positive States

You have heard the plethora of negative words that describe many a people around the world – unhappy, unsatisfied, unfulfilled, empty, sad, depressed – to name a few.

All of the negative states summarized above simply means that some sort of fullness is not there temporarily and that we must understand and accept the states we are in.

Yet, can Joy be found in lack of fullness? This is the beauty of being able to create magic with your mind. In my opinion there is only one thing that is keeping you locked into a continuous, sustainable, negative state of mind: YOU!

You have probably read many a books about being positive, or finding peace, or heard many motivational speakers trying to shifts ourselves from our negative state of being using a combination of quick fancy tools and techniques. This is all rubbish as it is an industry of self-improvement putting extra cash in someones pocket than help you. Extrinsic motivation is temporary and fades away quickly. Only intrinsic motivation can thrive within individuals.

It’s impossible for things in life to always be in a upswing, or to always win, or to always be chirpy, happy, and joyous. A continuous state of happiness doesn’t exist – that’s an illusion.

How do I know this is an illusion? Look at the reality of life. If people walked around with smiles all the time, we will question why people are looking goofy with their smiles. If every product was positive without some negative reviews, we will question the legitimacy of the reviews and say it’s contrived.

Does the same team in football, basketball, baseball, etc. win every year? No. A team may repeat 2-3 years in a row but over time there are always different champions in the end – and there have been MANY cases where a team was first one year and dead last the next.

So, just by these simple examples you will see that positive states are nothing permanent and are continuously changing. The mind plays tricks on us thinking that these states should be permanent and positive when the reality is that is just not true – the state is evolving and ever-changing.

Ok, so circling back, what happens to our negative states? Can we say that these states are also an illusion and not permanent and continuously changing? Sure you can, just by looking at the same examples above with people walking around with grim faces all the time, negative reviews all the time about common products, and teams losing all the time. These states are also unnatural and never existing for continuous periods of time.

The world moves on an axis of positive and negative polarities if you look at the north and south poles. Gravitational forces drive the Earth in perfect symmetry around the sun, along with the other planets. Everything is actually in perfect balance but we are too blind to recognize it.

Finding the middle point of these polarities is the source of fullness. If you are having a bad day just reflect on a day that was good – but don’t get too attached to that good day as a bad will come. This is art of balancing expectations.

Here is my point: your life is in perfect balance, perfect symmetry, and full with the way it is going regardless of your negative or positive state of being. Every hole you dig your self in to can be dug out of and vice-versa. Every situation that turns out unexpectedly has an opposite situation in the past that counterbalances that and vice-versa. All things get created and destroyed and vice-versa.

So, just enjoy your negative moments. See them for opportunities to grow, to learn, to understand what you can do better.

Keep an equal vision, balanced mind, and even temper and you will find that fulness in the middle, whether you are in a negative or positive state, is not far away.

The key is not to become too attached to outcomes coming out of each state. When you can eliminate yourself from expecting certain results, and simply focus on the act of doing, the being within you will automatically become full.
