I know life sometimes sucks. Things are just not going to go your way – but the truth is that this is how life has been designed for you.
We are all different. We think different. We act different. We talk different. It’s impossible for all of us be the same. Think of the traffic jam we would be in if we all thought, acted, and talked the same.
It’s impossible for us all to be on the exact same page on the exactly the same second. This is why we have been given the life that we have – to experience the differences in each other and discover those things within us that make us similar.
We all have decks of cards that we are dealt with. These cards represent life events. We don’t have a choice of what those cards are. These cards are what they are. Some folks have more cards than others. Some folks have more Ace’s, King’s, Jack’s and Queen’s than others – but life is not a card game where we are trying to take the other person out and get their cards.
The cool thing about the cards that you are dealt with, is that they are your special own cards. They have not been dealt to you – but gifted to you. There is an important distinction in attitude here. Having been dealt means you have to struggle with it – but being gifted means you accept it for what it is.
The list of examples these cards represent vary from individual to individual and can be exhaustive but some classic ones that come to mind are listed below:
- Being part of a family that is very unstable
- Being raised by a single parent or guardian
- Inability to keep a stable relationship
- Struggle to keep a stable job
- Inability to make lots of money
- Not able to go to school
- Not able to become a parent or grandparent
- Inability to procreate and have children
- Being single and not getting married
The biggest mistake people make is trying to get others to put their cards on the table so you can pick it up. This is not the way life is designed. Cards are your cards and you have to simply accept it for your own – but be cognizant of those cards that are dealt to those around you.
The game is not just playing with the cards you are gifted, but showing compassion and understanding for those cards that others are gifted.
The key to living life is acceptance of all things and beings for what they are and understanding that we are all struggling to climb the mountain of life. This is not an easy climb – life events, emotions, and circumstances will impact the climb. Accept who you are and your situation.
Surrender yourself to the cards that you have and celebrate your life for what it is – special.
