A lost feeling.
A feeling that there is empty space around me. A feeling that comes up suddenly and may last for only a few minutes, a few hours, or even a day – but generally not longer. It’s a feeling where you are essentially living in a hole.
You ever feel that?
This happened to me the other day and it’s a bit weird. It just kicks in out of nowhere. It feels like something is missing. Something is not working. Something is broken.
It’s a feeling that I don’t have any choices – and I am also not happy with the results.
It’s as if I am caught in a deep abyss and there is difficulty standing up – and confusion all around.
Ever reflect on this and wonder where this feeling comes from?
It’s difficult to pinpoint exactly what it is – but I think it boils down to some sort of loss of time, being constrained to small space to work in, and a combination of factors: a regret that I am not getting results from the day that I want, a feeling of spending things on the wrong items or spending more than I should, being around the wrong people, not getting the right ideas executed, not spending the day wisely, not happy with the project assignment I am working on.
What sucks is that it is never just one reason driven by a specific event. It’s a combination of factors.
I am not exactly sure but there is only one thing that we all need to do to start doing to get over this hump: the realization and faith that something positive is not just created by something positive, but can actually be created by something negative too.
In fact many of us take good things and make them bad through our actions. What we haven’t learned is how to take something bad and make it amazing.
Where there is darkness – there is light – and vice-versa.
Where there is cold – there is heat – and vice-versa.
Where there is masculine energy – there is feminine energy – and vice-versa.
We know for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction and this is actually how everyone stays in balance. The problem occurs when equal positive actions create unequal emotional balances.
Something is out of whack. I mean how is it that I can manifest these ill feelings of empty space from the joy I was experiencing earlier?
I mean – don’t negative thoughts attract negative things and positive thoughts attract positive things?
The question really becomes how can negative thoughts create positive emotions? Perhaps if we get the answer to this question, all our worries will go away.
To solve this we need to briefly introduce the concept of creating a shift – and understanding elements of space. There are two steps to initiate:
- Describe what your current emotional state is – e.g., feeling down, emotions low, unhappiness, confusion, emptiness, sinking feeling.
- Determine what emotions we want to strive for – e.g., feeling sky-high, escalated emotions, happy, focused, full, satisfied, motivated.
The reason positive forces create negative energies is that the mind somehow comes to believe that it needs to create a protective shield around us based on conditions that have taken root in our subconscious mind over time that include such characteristics such as ego, lust, anger, hatred, greed, and jealousy. This shield is an illusion and it encloses our bodies and our brains inside tricking us to behave in ways that are unnatural to the way that we should be behaving which free-flowing.
When we haven’t learned to control and and eventually kill is our negative emotions as they will always remain part of us – and yes, these are things that even I am working on.
Sadly, this negative state becomes our reality of the way things are – and it plays mind-games with us. But this is untrue – a complete lie –it is not really our true state – it’s our imagination of the world we have temporarily manifested based on conditions.
To summarize: If we haven’t learned that the TRUE state of our identity is that which is free-flowing, happy, joyful, infinite, and blissful to begin with – there will be times when we default to an alternate FALSE state of identity that is enclosed, sad, unhappy, limited, and ignorant.
In many cases we let this false identity take us over to trick us in believing that this is our true identity – when it is not! – and as a human being I also fall prey to this thinking. I am just glad I am now getting better in limiting the time I am straddling around this state and get myself moving in a positive direction faster.
These walls created by the shield are dangerous in that they impact how we move (restricted), how we think (close-minded) and how we judge (comparing).
All of this is manifested on how we are looking at ourselves relative to the space we are working in. If we feel that we don’t have abundance – we will see options are limited and the laws of scarcity will take over. If we are not happy with the way we look relative to others – laws of unworthiness and self-deprecation will take over. If we think there is no hope for our future – laws of pessimism will take over. If we can’t accept those things around us – laws of hatred will take over.
We do this repetitively. It’s nothing from the outside that actually creates this. It may influence us but it is up to us to accept what is real and unreal.
You will notice I didn’t talk about time. Time is something we all have to deal with. Time is the one element in the material-level I can’t change. Meaning – I can give everyone 1 hour to do anything they want in the world. The question is what will do you do in this hour? Will you create spaces that enclose you or create spaces that expand you?
Negative emotions are the causes of reducing the positive forces that we have going for ourselves. It’s our minds that create these negative forces. We think less. We think unworthy. We close doors. We think of limited options. We think results are not going in our favor. We compare. We compete. We complain.
We restrict ourselves – and no one else does this to us. We are the victims of our own thoughts which are manifested through actions.
How did I get out of my rut so quickly. Well, I practice the following which work for me:
- I observed how tight my muscles were and I did a traditional yoga routine to loosen myself up. No point being tight. As my muscles relaxed and ligaments received a nice stretch – I felt rejuvenated.
- I move from my house to the outside and go for a nice walk. I take myself from an enclosed space and step into a bigger world.
- I incorporated new options in my diet. I have a fresh vegetable juice every morning. I regularly eat salads and leafy green vegetables.
- I surround myself with the right people. If you are complaining, you are not in my regular friend circle. I only want to be around those people who are positive.
- I take breaks from sitting in my office cubicle. I regularly get up and go for walks. I take the stairs up the office.
- I listen to positive thinkers and some of best minds in the industry (past and present) – Earl Nightingale, Tony Robbins, Martin Luther King, Jr., Mahatma Gandhi, James Altucher, Gary Vaynerchuk, Tim Ferriss, Norman Vincent Peale, Dale Carnegie, Deepak Chopra to name a few.
- I take time to call time outs. During this period I enter into states of self-analysis and look for ways that I can improve my state.
Here is the golden rule to follow: Always think and act your infinite best given the time you are working with – and don’t worry about the outcome.
Negative forces can create positive energy if you can nurture the truth that everything in this world is actually intended to be positive but it is our minds that have created this cloudiness of negative thought. So all you have to do is lift the veil of cloudiness – which is our very own ignorance – and voila! – you have just realized that which is your real self – the essential you – the essential happy you.
Your thoughts behind your actions are limitless. There are no boundaries. We place boundaries on outcomes and expectations and hence these plant limiting beliefs.
When you realize that even your outcomes are limitless – and couple this with limitless actions – you will create foundations that allow you to enter into a world that is dimensionless, spaceless, timeless, ageless, and endless. This world can’t be defined as it has no boundaries and is ever continuous.
When you live in this dimensional world you will find the real meaning of your existence and the true meaning of the word happiness.
